We just got back from spending Memorial Day Weekend at the lake. Well, we actually broke the weekend into two and did half the weekend at the lake house and then hit up the Memorial Day festivities at our club. I don’t know if it was because my expectations weren’t super high, or the incredible weather, but the weekend was so much fun. I feel like we haven’t had that kind of fun weekend in a long time. Maybe it’s because the last few years, Memorial Day has been mostly cold and rainy? We also got to see family and friends and there were lots of fun activities and parties for the parents and kids that just made it extra fun. I’m exhausted now, but I feel like if this is an omen of what summer 2023 is going to be about, it’s going to be a good one. We really packed in all the summer activities this weekend too – kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming and more swimming, water balloon fights, s’mores, bbq-ing, poolside cocktails, bouncy housing, parading and fairing and backyard partying. I mean truly, we did it all. The problem with summer is getting back at it on a Monday (or in this case, Tuesday), right? But James has a few weeks left of school and well, I guess you don’t get summer break once you’re an adult, which someone should really fix. Since we did lots over the weekend, there were many outfit changes, and I get lots of requests for ideas of what to wear for summer trips and long weekends, so I thought I’d share what I wore over Memorial Day weekend at the lake.
The weather was really beautiful but it can get chilly during the mornings and evenings at the lake, similar to how it gets at the beach, so it was a mix of easy dresses and bathing suits and some sweaters and shorts. I only wear flat sandals for the most part during summertime, especially when we’re at the lake or pool and chasing after the kids, but I could have easily packed a pair of espadrilles for evening.
Here’s what I wore over Memorial Day weekend at the lake.
