It feels like summer, and I’m not going to complain. I mean I wouldn’t have minded more 60 degree days (my favorite weather) but if it’s not cold snow or rain, I’m all for it. I am setting the bar low these days and even embracing the heat and humidity. I wonder if this means we’re in for a hot summer… Regardless, I’m just super excited to be here. I love summer and the end of the school year, and I can’t wait for those long summer days and nights. We’re starting to make fun plans for the summer, all while trying to figure out where we’ll live. Of course, it’s not without stress as I feel super in limbo and I know the next school year will be here before we know it, but I’m trying to force myself to just live in the moment for once and trust that it’ll all work out. We have some good options and I know no matter what we’ll be happy. I also remember this time last year feeling so immensely sad after suffering a very difficult miscarriage and am acutely aware of all we have to be grateful for this summer with Brooks and our healthy sweet (well, most of the time) family. The warm weather has also inspired me to step up my dressing game, as you’ll see in my roundup of what I wore the third week of May 2022.
I still have some baby weight (which I usually hold onto while nursing and will probably for the next year given the formula shortage… a complete unacceptable disaster that we’ll discuss at another time) but rather than stress over what fits and what doesn’t, I’ve invested in some pretty new dresses that I know will fit me now and later and that make me feel good when out and about. Life’s too short to worry about squeezing into something that doesn’t fit, and I know we’ll get there but I’m not pushing myself. Frankly, I’m too tired and hungry to worry about it. Something no one tells you: Breastfeeding may burn calories, but it also makes you so hungry that you end up eating everything so not sure it’s actually helping me kick the baby weight, but it is what it is. I birthed a human and he’s becoming quite a big one at that. Anyway, here’s what I wore the third week of May 2022, including some of my favorite new spring dresses.
