Hi, and happy weekend. We took a vacation up to the lake to recharge for the Fourth, and it felt great. The kids really love it up there — they got to spend time with their grandparents, run around and get dirty, play with all the boats and water toys, eat too many sweets, make s’mores, and go to bed late. They also get to share a room and they find it so fun and funny. Even though there are a few beds in the room, they chose to sleep in the same one and it was too cute. Even bath time is fun up there because there’s an outdoor shower that they enjoy playing around in. Needless to say, they had a great time. And we did as well — it’s so fun watching the kids enjoy so many of the best parts of summer. Even Brooks got in on the fun and was all smiles. So this week I’m sharing what I wore on our vacation, which I thought could be helpful if you’re trying to figure out what to pack for a lake house weekend for those of you planning a similar vacation this summer.
We keep it pretty casual up at the lake. I spend most of the days in my bathing suit. We take small breaks from playing on the lake or fishing from the dock to eat and (when all goes as planned) nap or go for hikes. I try to get everyone to shower before dinner since we tend to be getting dirty outside all day, so I try to step it up a little with a breezy dress or shorts set, but sometimes, I just end up in a coverup and shorts and that’s okay too. That’s the beauty of escaping to the lake. If you are planning a similar getaway this summer, here’s what to pack for a lake house weekend aka what I wore this week.
