Hello and happy Friday! And happy end of January! I’m celebrating because we are closer to spring. As soon as March arrives, I start to feel better about life — spring is around the corner, it’s my birthday and anniversary month and Brooks’ birthday month now too. The skiing is always the best in March and well, after March it’s a straight shot to summer, my favorite time of year. February is a short month so it makes it more palatable and we get two holidays — President’s Day and Valentine’s Day — so it doesn’t feel nearly as long and dreary as January. My kids get a whole week off of school for winter break (which I thought was what they had off in December but apparently not), so there’s also that but it forces us to take some time off and take a little vacation, which I appreciate. I’m feeling more hopeful as you can tell, and I think that’s reflected in my round up of what I wore the last week of January 2023.
Honestly, my mental health is not in a good state during the month of January. The letdown after the holiday is never easy, but this year, just felt so dreary and blah, or I guess it always does here on the East coast. Remind me why I didn’t move to Charleston or Florida during the pandemic? Oh yeah, that would be because Andrew refuses to leave the tristate area and let me drag us somewhere unknown. Connecticut was as far as he’d go, and I’m realizing it’s still cold and dreary in the country in winter. But my wardrobe is starting to prep for spring, because honestly, I’m not seeing any sweaters or boots in stores or really on Insta anymore. It’s like we all collectively decided enough and have moved onto spring in hopes of willing Mother Nature that way. After a crazy week of work and being int he city quite a bit, I’m looking forward to a quieter weekend with just sports and birthday parties and pizza and movie night and maybe a little late night ice cream on the couch and Yellowstone with Andrew to boot.
Here’s what I wore the last week of January 2023.
