We’re in mid-March already and my birthday week is here! I feel like I’ve been talking a lot about my birthday so sorry but not sorry? (Does anyone even say that anymore? I guess I do!). I love birthdays and I’ve decided, this year, I’m celebrating mine. I love throwing elaborate birthdays for other people and then have always been low-key when it comes to my own, but you know what? I am worth celebrating and most importantly life is. I don’t know what it is – the near onset of spring, the dumpster fire of news we’re bombarded with daily that makes me worried for our future, the fact that I’m watching my children grow up so fast, living through a pandemic, old age, or what, but I feel like I have this new perspective on life recently. Maybe I’m just growing and realizing life is to be lived and that we only get one shot at this, or the desire to savor every magical memory and moment I can with the kids and frankly myself while I’m young and can enjoy all the things. Or maybe it’s just the fact that after winter hibernation and so much stress and transitions, I’m ready for some adventures. Whatever the case, I’ll stop trying to diagnose this new affliction that I think they call “optimism”, and just say, right now, I’m like, let’s celebrate, let’s do fun things, if we want something, let’s make it happen. And I’m kind of loving that perspective (even if it’s driving my husband crazy — he married a pessimist and I don’t think he understands this newly minted optimist he is living with. With that said, I have always had an adventurous spirit (albeit tamed by a type A organized/scheduled side — I’m a conundrum really, a woman of contrast, but wait, how did we get here and why are you letting me mumble on?). I suppose my point is I started celebrating my birthday last weekend and it will continue into this week as my birthday happened to fall mid-week this year. So I’m going to get to sharing what I wore the second week of March 2023 and then treat myself to a mani/pedi before Andrew and I head out on a couples birthday getaway.
Despite the feeling that spring is on the horizon, the weather has still been all over the place, so you’ll see that my outfits reflect that. I also had a busy work week and squeezed in some lunches with friends and that sort of thing, so I mostly got dressed this week. Now it’s off to start celebrating birthday week because really my birthday should last a week or perhaps all month?
Here’s what I wore the second week of March 2023.
