It actually pangs me to write what I wore the final week of July 2023, because the start of August means the end of summer is on the horizon, and that’s heartbreaking to me. Okay, I’m being dramatic, but I want summer to go on forever. Not even just for me, but for my kids as well. Summer is just such a magical time as a kid, and it’s short lived. And the next summer everyone will be at different ages and stages, which will be special too, but also different. The kids feel so little now but also on the precipice of getting bigger, especially James, and I just think this time right now is so magical but I’m also so keenly aware of how fleeting it is. I can’t tell if that’s because Instagram keeps telling me I only have 18 summers, 6 of which I have used up with James (and that’s if you don’t send the kiddos away to camp/boarding school etc.) or if it’s what happens as you progress on your journey through motherhood. Perhaps it’s a combination of both. But the good news about August’s arrival is that I’m going to be home for the rest of the month and we have lots of fun trips to plan.
This was really my last week of having to get dressed and from here on out, it’s bathing suits and fun. Although there was lots of that this week too. Now, it’s time for us to pack up for our first trip of the month — Lake Placid. I’m so excited for it. I have actually never been and it’ll be our first time testing out a road trip with the kiddos. I take that back, first time doing a four hour road trip with all three kiddos. Wish us luck!! Here’s what I wore the final week of July 2023.
