So even though I grew up playing golf (my parents lived off the first tee of our country club) and I have shared roundups for what to wear to play golf, I had to do some research when it came to offering tips and ideas for what to wear to the Masters. I saw this query was trending, and as an outfit resource, I wanted to cover it, but I’ve actually never been to the famous golf tournament. In fact, while I’ve played in golf tournaments (even though I’m a terrible putter and only participate against my will), I haven’t attended many as an adult. Our country club growing up hosted a lot of big golf tournaments that I would go to and watch, but it’s been a minute and there are dress codes and guidelines for historic tournaments like this, so I did a bit of research for what to wear to the Masters golf tournament.
I wanted to start by sharing some guidelines and tips for what to wear to the Masters. The Masters take place in Augusta, Georgia in April. This year, they’ll be April 10-13 2025. If you’re attending in person, there are some things in mind:
Check the Weather: The reality is that it can range from hot to chilly to rainy (temps can range from 50 to 80 degrees), so you want to make sure you’re prepared with the right layers and shoes and rain gear if needed.
Stick with Comfortable Footwear: You are going to be doing a lot of walking and standing, so you want to make sure you’re in shoes that you can stand in all day. A really good pair of flats or stylish sneakers (superga or veja or goldengoose would be my pick here) is key here.
Don’t Forget the Sun Protection: Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. When the sun is out, it can be strong and if you’re standing in it all day, you’re going to want some extra protection.
Stick with a Small Crossbody: You probably want to keep your hands free and not worry about a bulky bag, so a cute crossbody is a great option. Otherwise, I’d go with a small purse. It has to be 10” x 10” x 12” or smaller per the official website, so keep that in mind.
Think Light Layers: A cute skirt or dress that’s lightweight is the perfect choice for this event. Dressing up a bit is the custom. Pair with a lightweight jacket or cardigan in case it gets cooler.
Consider Green: Masters green is the color of the week, but you can also just go with pretty spring colors or a crisp white if that’s more your style.
