We are officially in July friends, really the second month of summer in my calculations. We’re also halfway through the year. Yep, I’m sorry to scare you but I’m doing it for your own good. We’re halfway through 2024, and it’s a great time to look back at your resolutions and make sure you’re on track, shift your goals, and make sure you are looking back at 2024 in January and accomplished all you wanted to. Your entire life can change in a year. It’s trite, but it’s true. It takes a lot of work and you won’t get everything you want overnight, but if you set intentions and a game plan for working towards your goals, you can get there. And step one is plotting out your goals and constantly checking in with them so see how you’re progressing and make a game plan to continue getting where you want to go. To that end, I did a lot of reviewing my bigger 2024 goals while making my July 2024 monthly goals.
I recently heard Oprah say that most people don’t ever achieve their dreams or build their dream life because they don’t know what they want. I think that’s really true. You have to know what you want and where you’re going. I know it’s July, not January, but take a little time to think about your dream life, what you want your life to look like in a year, in two years, in five years, in 10 years, and then think about what you need to get to where you want to be in a year. This will really help you stay on track and with half the year left, it’s the perfect time to do it. I’m feeling like I’m in a slump professionally and overwhelmed without childcare and by the pressure to slowdown and make the most of summer but also get a lot done professionally and around the house and in life before the baby comes. I am feeling really overwhelmed to say the least. But I am still being pretty ambitious with my July 2024 monthly goals because I really want to accomplish a lot before the year is over.
Here are my July 2024 monthly goals.
Hit an IG Milestone By End of Summer. Instagram has been really janky lately and changing their algo and not particularly friendly. It’s frustrating because I spend so much time creating content and trying to do all the things for you and I feel like none of it is being shown or hitting. But I am approaching a milestone that has felt elusive for me, and I’m hoping to hit it before the end of summer. So shameless plug: please share my account if you would be so kind to help.
Restrategize My Instagram: To that end, I want to rethink my IG page a bit. I want to be more consistent with the types of content I post and lean more into series’s to make it easier for me and have stronger formats for delivering content. I’ve felt all over the place recently. Does that bug you or you don’t mind?
Land Three New Partnerships: I’m really trying to diversify my revenue streams to support this account and blog and I’d love to find strategic partnerships with brands I love to help with that.
Book Christmas Trip: I am hoping to get our annual Christmas ski trip to Park City planned and booked before the end of the month. It seems so far away but will be here before we know it, and we’ll have an extra family member in tow, so I really want to get it all squared away sooner rather than later (i.e., make sure the big kids are all set in ski school lol).
Grow My Substack: I need to be better about promoting my Substack and am considering publishing twice a week instead of just my monthly edit. What do you think?
Post 3x’s a Day to TikTok: I’ve totally ignored my TikTok for a number of reasons. It’s truly an after thought but that’s not serving me and Instagram lately has me wanting to diversify more in every way. Plus, TikTok can be so much more fun sometimes.
Do Weekly Q&A’s on Instagram: Sorry so far my July 2024 monthly goals are so focused on Instagram and career, but it’s been a slow start to summer and well, I only have 6 months left to end of year. I love answering your questions and chatting with all of you. Would you prefer I answer them in the traditional Q&A boxes in stories or with a weekly IG live?
Publish 3x’s a Week to Blog: I have been behind on publishing new content to my blog, because I was so focused on cleaning up all my SEO. I finally did it (Wohooo!), so now I want to publish two new pieces a week — What I Wore This Week and one other — and then update one existing piece that’s relevant each week. I think that’s a reasonable and good goal and sets me up for success but is also something I can actually accomplish.
Play Tennis: I’ve been so afraid to play tennis since becoming pregnant and I love it so much. I’d like to pick up a tennis racket at least a few times this summer.
Play Golf: Same with golf. I don’t love it like tennis, but I’d like to play at least a few times this summer.
Plan End of August Trip: I’m really craving a trip to London but I may also try to tag along with my husband’s business trip to Portugal in the fall (if it’s not too close to my due date) so debating if London makes sense. Nantucket has also come up as an option.
Visit Quogue: Quogue is our favorite place in the Hamptons and I really want to make sure we spend a weekend or two out there this summer, if not more, so I’m including it in my July 2024 monthly goals.
Finish a few home projects: I have a few lingering home projects I want to get done this month:
Choose carpet or flooring for basement and price out and book
Paint basement
Power wash deck and front of house
Decide on trees and bushes to run along side of house
Measure for wallpaper in guest room, James’ room and primary bedroom
Recover family room cushions
New dressers for bedrooms
Hallway art
Cover living room chairs
Shop for new car: We’ve started test-driving bigger cars but I really want to make sure we have one in place by September so we’re all set when baby arrives. We need to test drive some other options so my goal is to focus more on that after the Fourth of July.
Eat better: Ever since my rough first trimester when I felt terrible for four full months, I’ve been eating terribly. Snacking on the kids foods, skipping meals and eating off their plates, eating lots of junk and takeout. It’s made me freel really gross. I did Sakara Life for a week and it really helped, but then I slipped back into old habits, mostly becuase we’ve been running around like crazy recently. I need to be better about making food at home but it’s summer, we’re outside all day and I’m tired so haven’t felt a lot like cooking. I’m not going to beat myself up that much about ordering in and grabbing food on the go, but I do want to do a better job of choosing healthier foods. I’ll tell myself I’ll make something at home and then I don’t so I end up eating junk instead of just getting Sweetgreen. I’d rather spend the money on the salad even if it’s not economical.
Get dressed every day: I’m going to document my outfits every day on Instagram this month. What do you think?
Plan Charlotte’s Birthday: I can’t believe Charlotte will be five in August! I want to plan out her birthday party and gifts so including it in my July 2024 monthly goals.
Purge and Organize Playroom: I really want to get this done while the kids are at camp and before we start hosting a playgroup for Brooks this fall.
Sell Clothes: I have a collection of clothes and accessories I no longer wear and honestly, I need to get rid of stuff I do wear because my closet is bursting. I sent a bunch to the Real Real but I think I’m going to do a big closet sale on Instagram. Should I?
List Stuff on Facebook Marketplace: While we’re in the purging zone, I need to get rid of lots of stuff we no longer need, from lights and lamps to strollers to curtains. This has been on my to-do list forever so adding to my July 2024 monthly goals.
Set Up a Better Work/Mom Schedule: Okay, this is always on my list of goals, but I’m taking my foot off the pedal a bit this summer so I can enjoy more family time. I am acutely aware of how few summers I have with these guys (thanks Internet memes) and I also am low on childcare, so I am going to lean into relaxing a bit more and not stressing so much about getting everything done and enjoying my family more.
Plot Out Fall Content: WIth that said, I want fall to be a big one for me. It’s an important time for my business and will be a big time for me personally, before I add another baby to the mix. I want to make sure I am planning ahead this year and really tapping into everything I can create to serve my audience and to help you guys plan for back to school and fall and all the events. So let me know what you need help with!
And that’s it for my July 2024 monthly goals. What’s on your list?
