I am back from four days away and it feels like a lifetime ago, but gave me the much needed fuel I needed so badly. I went to the Bahamas with friends and it truly recharged my batteries in every way. I was nervous about leaving all three kids – I haven’t left them ever – and I think it was good for all of us. I really needed to recharge as a person and have some time off work, mom-ing, blogging and juggling and doing it all. It’s been a crazy few months on top of some of the craziest years and I didn’t realize how much I needed this break. And everyone back home survived … for the most part lol. A highlight of traveling without kids was being able to wear clothes I didn’t have to worry about getting dirty or would work for chasing after kids so I got to have a little more fun with what I wore for a trip to the Bahamas. With that said, we were on island time and all about relaxing, so I left the major feels and complicated fits at home. I actually struggled a little with what to wear in the Bahamas in October, since we usually go on a warm weather/island vacation in either the winter or spring, but luckily, my packing list was on point and I had exactly what I needed.
My main takeaway from this trip was that I need more breaks and I deserve them. There’s never a good time to take a trip, so just do it and you won’t regret it. And a change of scenery makes a difference. A day off work or an afternoon booked with a sitter ends up being usurped by errands, lingering work or projects, organizing, home stuff etc. so it doesn’t really give me time off per se but time to cut down on my to-list. Leaving and changing the scenery really helped me relax and get in vacation mode and take a step back from all my to-dos. It also gave me a chance to just have fun and do what I wanted uninterrupted – how novel, right? The luxury of showering or sitting down for five minutes without interruption is truly something as a mom. Sad but true. I am planning to book more time away to recharge, even if it’s just a night in the city or at a nearby hotel or a day trip to a spa. I didn’t realize how much we all need and deserve some time off, especially as moms.
And that concludes my endorsement for moms taking time off. And now back to what I wore for our trip to the Bahamas (if you’re actually still reading). If you’re heading on vacation, I have lots of inspo for you and miracles of miracles, this all fit in a carry on with sneakers and a breast pump!
So if you’re wondering what to wear in the Bahamas in October, here’s what I wore on my trip.
