It’s officially May and my countdown to summer has begun! I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for summer to start. I feel like winter and spring dragged on forever, and I just want the warm weather and pool and sunshine. Of course, time is now flying by that we have a newborn, and I want it to slow down before I blink and he’s ten, but I also am ready for school to be over, camp to start, and to go on some fun family adventures and vacations. I’m trying to dress for summer (as much as the weather permits) to help usher in the new season. Personally I’d be fine with a really warm spring though it’s not looking like that’s in the cards quite yet, as you’ll see in my roundup of what I wore the first week of May 2022.
Maternity leave is a funny thing. You spend most of it living in pajamas and robes the first time around. The second time around, you have to get dressed and chase after your other baby, and for me, the transition from one to two was easy enough that getting dressed for each day was completely doable. The transition from two to three has been a bit different. We’re outnumbered, have less childcare currently, are in the midst of some big changes (more to come on that soon), and I’m not fully able to check out of work on either job so I’m stretched thinner than ever. Not only can you tell by my frazzled demeanor and short fuse, but also by how I look on any given day. If you saw me at drop off in the morning, you’d be scared. It’s sweats or leggings if I can bother to get into workout clothes before we have to be out the door. It’s rare that I can run a brush through my hair and I just hope to god I don’t forget my sunglasses to cover the dark circles under my eyes. I try to get it together by pickup if I’m lucky enough to squeeze in a shower, maybe a workout, and even a hair brushing, but it really depends on the day and Brooks’ schedule and what craziness life throws at us. A lot of days I’m in the same leggings until the kids go to bed and I can finally shower. This week though we actually had some events and evening dinners and parties (yay for spring parties, boo for not being able to keep my eyes open to stay very long at aforementioned soirees) that forced me to pull it together by the evening, and I even managed to squeeze in a lunch to boot. Here’s what I wore the first week of May 2022.
