It’s the final week of June already, and summer is in full swing. June is a weird month because it’s kind of half summer, kind of half spring. School’s finishing up, camp is about to start or just starting, and the weather can go back and forth. But by the end of the month, it definitely feels like summer, especially as the Fourth of July festivities start to gear up. Summer is my most favorite time of year, so I’m trying to live my best life and soak in as much sun and outdoor time with the kids. I want them to enjoy all the fun things. We tried our best to do that this week. James did a sports camp all week, Charlotte got a week off of camp to swim and play and stay in her pajamas way too late. Brooks is just over here living his best life, and I’m just trying to keep everyone fed, sunscreened, entertained, and cared for while we all adjust to this new schedule. I mixed things up for the kids and gave them a mix of different camps and activities, which will be awesome for them, but I’m realizing it’s also a lot more coordination and work on my part — not just remembering where everyone is and needs to be and what they need to bring/pack/have but also coordinating all the pickups and drops offs and who’s home while Brooks is napping and when I’m at the office or an event for work. My wardrobe is kind of the last thing I’ve been thinking about, which is why I’m relying on pretty dresses and easy shorts sets. Basically one and done dressing is all I have time/energy for right now, as you’ll see in my round up of what I wore the last week of June 2023.
Luckily, I think we’re getting into our groove and hitting our summer stride. This week I really tried to squeeze in as much time as I could with the kids between work and a couple events. Maybe it’s those Instagram posts about how you only have 18 summers or something, but I’m feeling the push of time more than ever, and it’s sort of hurting my heart a lot. I hate to think that I’ll long for these days for the rest of my life and they’re going by so fast. I want to savor them but also they’re exhausting and hard, and why does life have to be like that? Probably getting a little too deep here for what you came here to see, so I’ll leave at that, and here’s what I wore the last week of June 2023.
