I know winter makes the spring and summer that much sweeter, and having four seasons is a blessing in many ways, but man, I don’t love winter. I’m trying to take a hygge approach and just cozy up and hibernate and be okay with it, but my kids keep forcing me to leave the house, and that means getting dressed for the cold and snow. It seems like the whole country is having cold and snow though, so hopefully what I wore the third week of January 2024 is helpful for those outside the East Coast as well.
This week felt a bit like a return to normalcy after holidays and short weeks and snow days. We started to get back into some semblance of a routine, and as someone who craves routine, it made me feel much more at ease. I am still trying to figure out the balance of getting work done and all the kids requirements, but I think I’m starting to get a rhythm. I have so much I want to accomplish, but it’s so hard with the kids’ stuff and them being out of school so much and being so off our routine and then of course, it feels like someone is always sick. But back to feeling grateful for the winter. I will say we’ve found out how to make the most of winter weekends — paddle, hockey, ice skating and skiing sprinkled with some indoor swim lessons and passes to the kids’ museum and aquarium. I find having activities that get us outside for a bit or at least out of the house helps so much. We’re off to do all that this weekend, but first, here’s what I wore the third week of January 2024.
