What I Wore This Week (No. 210) – Closetful of Clothes

Somehow it’s August. Fall is everywhere. I’m already seeing Halloween content and candy out. I am stressing about all the kids’ activities and logistics and managing all the back to school emails and events. And of course all the back to school clothes they need. But you know what? There is still a month left of summer, at least here on the East Coast where school doesn’t start until the last week of August. And I’m not going to end it early by prepping for fall. I’m still wearing my summer clothes — as you’ll see from my roundup of what I wore the first week of August 2024. It’s really the only choice because it’s been oppressively hot and humid here. So I’ll be living in swimsuits and breezy dresses moving forward.

But I am feeling some of the pressure to start dressing for fall. For a work event this week, I did whip out a new transitional dress that’ll take me into fall but works for late summer too. Honestly, it felt a bit too fall for me, but I dressed it down with summery accessories and got tons of compliments, so here we are. It’s a great time to stock up on summer staples, so I’ve been sharing a lot of those on my Instagram stories. I may do a big roundup here but everything is selling out so fast, I feel like it makes more sense to post in real time. I do a lot of my shopping at the end of each season. I hate buying things full price because everything goes on sale and well, inflation means dresses are all like $800 instead of $300 these days (what is happening?) and I hate seeing something I bought go on sale. With that said, due to the nature of my job, I also do buy a lot full price these days at the start of the season, so I’m very strategic about what sale items I invests in. Should I do an entire post on this?
