As I’ve evolved this blog/site, I really wanted it to become a place where I could share all the things I love and tips I’ve learned in addition to outfit ideas. As a magazine editor, my job has been to curate the best of everything, from products to advice to experiences, and I really wanted to bring that here. Now that we’re suburbanites and Connecticut residents, I hope to share some more of my local finds and recommendations both here and on my Instagram. I also know how hard it is to plan a child’s birthday party (why??), so I wanted to share an amazing local spot to host a girl’s birthday party in Connecticut and give you a first look at Charlotte’s princess party, which is full of fun ideas even if you’re not local. Charlotte wanted a super girly princess party and her requests included a tea party, singing and dancing, hair and makeup, princess dresses, mermaid and fairies, cake and pizza. It was a tall order. I was going to host it at our house because I really didn’t know how to incorporate all those things into one party and I just knew a nature center or bounce party wasn’t her thing and it felt like all the other options were already taken by someone in her class having a birthday party around the same time. I was working on putting together her home party but it was so overwhelming trying to coordinate all the different things and people all right after our vacation and a day before school was starting. Oh, and we were having some landscape work done that was making my plans for the bounce house and other activities difficult. As I was googling princess party entertainment and decor, I found Sugar Plum Parties in Westport, and honestly, it had to be the universe’s way of saving me from a complete breakdown. It literally had everything I was looking for for Charlotte’s princess party, so we decided to host her party there and it turned out to be the perfect place for a girl’s birthday party in Connecticut.

Sugar Plum Parties lets you choose from a mix of themes (we chose princess obvs) and then they cater the activities and everything to it. For Charlotte and her friends, they got to choose princess dresses when they arrived, get their hair and nails done to transform into true princesses, put on tiaras and wands and make charm bracelets that served as the favors, and then dance and practice their princess curtsies before heading into another room where a tea party was all set up. They got to drink tea and eat pizza and cake for a beautiful ending to her princess party. They handled the pizza, cake and favors, set up and clean up, and bagged all her presents for us. It couldn’t have been easier and Charlotte and her friends had the BEST time. It was so much more fun for everyone than trying to host it all and put it all together at home tbh, and the best spot for a girl’s birthday party in Connecticut. But if you don’t live in the tri-state area, you could totally recreate some of the ideas at your house. I highly recommend setting up a tea party and the nail and hair stations and bracelet making were huge hits.
Here are some more pics from Charlotte’s if you’re looking for a place to host a girl’s birthday party in Connecticut or need some inspo.
