Charlotte is all about princesses these days and requested a princess party for the second year in a row (with mermaids and unicorns thrown in for good measure, but we’re going to narrow down that theme a bit to just princess birthday party ideas). Charlotte loves dressing up as a princess, watching princess movies, reading about princesses and really all things magical and pink and sparkly. Last year, we went with a princess theme for her third birthday and it looks like we’re going to be doing something similar this year. I debated hosting her birthday at an event space or a gymnastics or nature center to make it easier on us, and not going deep on a theme and decorations. But I find that stuff fun tbh and honestly, I wanted to keep it low key. Charlotte’s birthday falls at the end of summer right as school is starting and all the pre-first day meet the teacher and coffees are happening. It’s a busy time so attendance is always mixed and people, including us, are tired and overwhelmed. Rather than trying to book a party at an event space and worrying about people canceling and adding on last minute (which is totally understandable this time of year), I thought we’d just host it at home so people can stop by if they’re around and stay as long as they want between all the sports practices and class playdates and picnics. But that means I needed to start thinking about princess birthday party ideas.
I love to gather inspiration for the party and then start shopping. Since we did a princess party last year, we’ll make this one more of a fairy princess magical themed party with all Charlotte’s favorite things — princesses, fairies, unicorns, sparkles, pink. We’re going to have some bounce houses and water play since it’ll be warm and then we’re going to add in a tattoo table, maybe some face painting and a crafts table where they can make their own crowns and wands and mini castles. We’re going to keep the food pretty simple with some snacks, fruit and juice boxes and do pizza for lunch. It’s easy and a crowd-pleaser and works for the parents too. I know a lot of you have little ones like Charlotte who are fairytale/princess obsessed, so I thought I’d share princess birthday party ideas.
