As I mentioned before, we are looking to do some bigger things with our basement, including adding a bedroom/bath, revamping the floors and ceilings, and painting it all. It’s a massive project that we’re not going to start for awhile. I want to finish the kids rooms and bathroom, the living room and kitchen and powder room first. Okay, I want to finish everything, let’s be serious. But the kids spend a lot of time in the basement — it’s basically their playroom — and therefore, we do too. Plus, anytime James has friends over, the parents end up coming down to pick up their kids down there and it kind of makes me cringe. The carpet is pretty stained and gross — generally carpet just skeeves me out. And the walls are this yellowish cream that I hate. I am down there at least a few times a day and it just drives me crazy, so I’ve decided to give the finished side a little refresh while we wait to do a larger remodel. I promised to share more home content on here, so I wanted to share our finished basement ideas.
We have some white Ikea shelves for the toy storage (that also is doubling as a TV stand now and making me nervous) and a grey sleeper sectional down there already. I just ordered this great indoor/outdoor rug, because you know I want to keep the blue theme going, and I want to add in a TV stand, storage ottoman and a cute table and chairs. I have to figure out still how to organize the dollhouses and Barbie Dream House and sports equipment etc. so it looks a little nicer, but I think with the rug and a nice coat of white paint we’ll be on our way. Check out our finished basement ideas and let me know what you think. Any suggestions for how to style some of the larger things like the Dream House, Paw Patrol Tower, etc.?
