Two of my most popular blog posts of all time are my favorite places to find girl clothes and boy clothes. I get it — finding cute clothes for kids can be tricky. When it comes to dressing my kids, I prefer traditional children’s clothes that look like they could have been handed down from my childhood closet. I know when the kids hit their tween and teen years, they’ll want to be wearing the latest trends and probably shopping my closet, and at just six, James is already starting to want to wear sports clothes and things I’d hoped he wait to wear until he was eight or ten. But I will hold onto my chance to dress them as long as I can, especially since I love sourcing and finding sweet clothes for the kids. Actually, sometimes I find it more fun to shop for the kids than myself tbh.
One of my favorite places to shop for traditional children’s clothes is Florence Eiseman. The quality of the clothes simply cannot be beat. They will last to be handed down for years to come — these are the types of clothes that you can save so your kids can pass them down to their kids one day. Although I thought she was crazy growing up, I am so glad my mom saved a lot of my special baby clothes. Charlotte now wears them and it makes me so happy. The pieces are so unique and it just feels like such a special full circle moment. Florence Eiseman’s beautiful pieces are the type of clothing that I will save for Charlotte, James and Brooks to one day pass down to their kids (scary thought right there). Not only because they are truly so well made, but also because their prints and designs are timeless.
I pulled together some of my favorite Florence Eiseman pieces below, and here are the kids wearing matching looks for a special dinner at one of our favorite places in Connecticut, Grey Barns.
