When we were doing the inspection on our Connecticut house, after putting in an offer following a 10 minute tour (because crazy housing market/needed a place to live/story for another day), one of the first things my husband said (or texted because I was not there) was “we need to replace all the light fixtures”. This says a lot coming from my husband, who totally appreciates a nice finished space, but rarely cares about this stuff. The house is older and does not have much overhead light and those that are there are predominantly from light fixtures. The previous owners gave the house a very specific vibe that I can’t quite explain but the light fixtures had a very modern industrial vibe that worked with their decor, but not ours. As we’ve slowly updated the house and made it our own, the light fixtures have needed to change as well. I started out guns blazing, but got sidetracked by the millions of other projects and life so I’m just now getting to researching the best hall entrance lights.
We replaced the kitchen pendants, living room sconces, dining room chandelier and bedroom fixtures and it made such an impact, I knew I wanted to tackle our hall entrance lights next. In the hallway to the front door entrance there are actually two lights — one at the front by the front door and one at the back of the hallway between the powder room and laundry room. They are two different lights that don’t exactly feel like they belong together or in our house. So I’m looking forward to replacing both. But it’s taken me awhile to figure out the best hall entrance lights. I’m trying to narrow down my choices so you’ll see they’re all in a similar style/vein to fit our classic colonial. But here are my picks for the best hall entrance lights — let me know your favorite.
